After installing the latest beta of amaroK (a great audio player for KDE) I noticed that something called Audioscrobbler had appeared in the configuration dialog. I followed a link to the homepage and found out that Audioscrobbler was, and I quote,
[...] a computer system that builds up a detailed profile of your musical taste [...] calculates which people are most similar to you, based on shared musical taste [...] is able to automatically generate suggestions for new songs/artists you might like.
Since it was free and painless to start with I thought I would give it a try. I registered and have been using it for about a week. You can check out what I’m listening to. I haven’t gotten any recommendation yet, but when they start coming in we’ll see if it’s any use to the system. Hopefully it’ll be a great way of finding new, interesting artist.
